Figurative Mondrian exhibition at the Marmottan Museum, 12th September 2019 – 26th January 2020

Piet Mondrian is known for his thick black lines and geometric blocks of colour, but this new exhibition at the Marmottan Museum shows another aspect of his work that may surprise you – his figurative paintings.

We have art collector Salomon Slijper to thank for encouraging and preserving Mondrian’s figurative paintings. In the early 20th century he amassed around 180 of the artist’s paintings and drawings over the course of nearly three decades, and also aided him financially when he was unable to make ends meet.

For this special Paris exhibition, you’ll be able to admire sixty-seven works of art, half of which have never been shown in the capital before. Eight haven’t been seen in Paris for over fifty years, and thirteen are back for the first time in nearly twenty years.

Very much an exceptional event for fans of Mondrian!
