In one of the most strangely-named exhibitions of the year, contemporary artist Petrit Halilaj is showing brand-new works next to those of Alberto Giacometti at the Foundation bearing the latter’s name, not far from our hotels.

Petrit Halilaj’s work often harks back to childlike drawings, possibly a relic of his childhood in Kosovo during the war. His dreamlike pieces are being presented juxtaposed with those of Giacometti, which also have a childlike element to them.

The (highly intellectual) title of the exhibition references the thoughts of Giacometti about his work entitled Le Palais à 4h du matin (The Palace at 4am) dating from 1932, and the presentation has been designed by Petrit Halilaj himself in order to highlight the similitudes between his work and that of Giacometti – both are full of hopes and dreams, while still being conscious of the dangers and fear of life.

In all, you’ll be able to see around thirty new, specially-created pieces by Halilaj, both sculptures and drawings, plus numerous large- and small-scale key works by Giacometti, including Le Couple, La Cage and Apollon.

It’s a rare chance to see Halilaj’s work in Paris, as his success around the world continues to grow. If you look at his recent commission for an installation on the roof of the Met Museum in New York, you’ll immediately understand why his style goes so well with Giacometti’s.

You might like to know that they should be moving next year to another incredible venue – the former Invalides train station that we also visited for you not so long back!
