Brrr! It’s chilly, the school holidays have started… Time to warm up with some winter sports in Paris – it’s ice skating time! ⛸️

Here are the city’s biggest rinks that await you over the holiday period…

We’ve already mentioned one of the biggest, if not the biggest, ice rinks in Paris for Christmas 2024. It’s called the Grand Palais de Glaces, covers 3.000m² and is situated under the restored glass roof of the Grand Palais, a gorgeous monument that you shouldn’t miss. Pricey (up to 36€ for the evening session) but worth it. More details here.

For something a little less spectacular but just as much fun, head for the La Défense Xmas Market which has a 450m² ice rink open until 5th January 2025. Entrance is 10€ / 5€ plus 2€ for skate rental (and don’t forget your gloves, as they are obligatory).

The organisers promise a “majestic 9-metre high deer” in the middle of the rink, which we are guessing needs to be seen to be believed! 🦌 More info and opening hours (in French) here.

Another 450m² ice rink can be found not far from our hotels. Patins en Folie (literally ‘Skates Gone Mad’) is being held in the André Citroën park, and not just for the holidays – they don’t close until 3rd March, and while the park shuts at nightfall, the rink remains open until late, sometimes until 10pm!

Admission is 11€ / 8€ (reservation obligatory here) and as the poster suggests (with no ice or skates visible) you’ll be able to buy snacks on-site. There’s also a special selfie spot so you and the family can immortalise their crepe-eating. More info here.

And our last proposition is the rink at the Tuileries Gardens Xmas Market, 200m² of ‘synthetic ice’, open until 11.45pm every day until 1st January 2025. It’s a dinky size, but entrance is cheaper: 10€ including skate hire. A bargain!

Plus, there are funfair rides, Santa on-site and ready for photos, 80 chalets packed with gift ideas and even a free show every day “performed by enchanted characters from the Magic Forest”! 🤔
