The Conciergerie, the fascinating monument near our hotels, has just opened a new exhibition spotlighting around 40 artists from Benin through 100 works of art (paintings, drawings, sculptures, videos, photos…), some of which are being shown for the first time.

The exhibition is divided into three chapters:

— Goddesses and Gods, the metamorphosis of those behind the West Africa Vodún cult,
— Queens and Kings, the power and glory of the kings and queens of Abomey, and
— Women and Men, those who live and struggle in our globalised world.

The exhibition is curated by Yassine Agnikè Lassissi, director of the visual arts department of ADAC (the arts and culture development agency in Benin), and art historian Emmanuel Daydé.

Linked with the exhibition there are:

— workshops in the afternoon of 19th & 20th October

— African stories and fairytales from 26th-28th December, and

— a celebratory weekend on 16th & 17th November with several concerts (Mina Agossi and her group AGE7, the Gangbé Brass Band…) and the Chachenga food truck!
