Back for its 23rd edition, Parcours des mondes is the biggest international event dedicated to archeology and tribal art from Africa,Oceania, Asia and the Americas, and it’s happening right now, in the Beaux-Arts area of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, super close to our hotels!

Every year since 2002, Parcours des mondes has brought together close to 60 international art galleries and sellers in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. From now until 15th September, if you go for a wander in the Beaux Arts part of the neighbourhood, you’ll see little salmon-coloured flags indicating which spaces are taking part in the event.

Each gallery offers a presentation around a theme, geographical provenance or era, aimed at both amateurs and professionals, with particular attention being paid to the authenticity of the items on show.

Highlights include:

— Zones of contact, Surrealism, Africa, Oceania, America, a large exhibition about surrealism devised by H+R ART CONSULT in collaboration with the André Breton Association and the Pompidou Centre,

— Révélée / Unveiled – New perspectives on Keaka Statuary, with eleven works never shown before, presented by Bruno Claessens,

— and Forms and Spirits, an exhibition curated by Franck Marcelin at the Michel Giraud Gallery, presenting 22 pieces created by eskimos or from Oceania.

A catalogue of the exhibition will also be available to purchase on site.

Last year, Parcours des mondes started a new section called Showcase, aimed at spotlighting first-time participants in the event.

This year, three galleries are being featured – Grégory Chesne specialised in AFrican, Oceanic and American arts, Christophe Person and his gallery of contemorary African art that opened as recently as December 2022, and Frank Van Craen specialised in Sub-Saharan African arts.
