Our photos of the Christmas window displays are coming soon, but in the meantime we can definitely gaze in awe at the giant tree signalling that Christmas 2019 has officially started at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, and lots of special events await you for the holiday season…

With its intricate domed ceiling and art nouveau detailing, the interior of the main Galeries Lafayette department store is one of Pari’s must-see sights at any time of year, but even more so at Xmas.

The tree twinkles throughout the day, but every 30 minutes the main lights dim and a special lightshow with musical accompaniment runs for a few minutes. With beehives and bees as this year’s theme, get ready for some loud buzzing!

Additionally, if you get closer to the tree than usual and have an extra special view of the dome, try out the Glasswalk, a glass bridge nine metres long suspended sixteen metres above the ground!

Galeries Lafayette also has a photo competition running right now on Instagram. All you have to do to have a chance of winning ‘a mystery prize’ is:

The holiday season is also the moment to have your child’s photo taken with Father Christmas (for 10€). Sittings are available on Wednesdays and weekends from 10am-8pm (starts 11am Sundays).

And of course let’s not forget the free ice skating rink (176m²!) on the roof of the store! It’s open every day of the week from 10am-8pm until 31st December 2019.
