Circulation(s) photo festival at the 104 arts centre until 30th June 2019

Our favourite festival of young photography is back at the 104 arts space, with the work of over thirty photographes on show, a special part of the festival adapted for 5-12 year-olds, a photo studio, conferences, workshops, a France-Romanian focus, a special guest gallery from Porto, projections of favourite photos chosen by the organisers, a selection of photos to be seen in an unusual venue elsewhere, a prize awarded by the general public…

Lots of great photos in store!

With artistic direction handled by The Red Eye this year, the new edition of Circulation(s) has this year chosen to put the photos on show into five categories / themes:

Archives – The posthumous destiny of images

The body and suffering – Can one celebrate one’s own pain?

Territories – Territory, signs and identity

Landscapes and nature – The photographic landscape: between documentation and neo-romanticism, and

Documents and narration – Showing an ailing world

As well as all the work on show at the 104, two photographers – Camille Gharbi and Jordi Ruiz Cirera – will have their series shown at the railway station Gare de l’Est until the festival ends on 30th June.

As part of the ‘saison France-Roumanie’, the Festival will be going to Bucharest in May to show the work of four young Romanian photographers, and five artists featured in the festival will be part of the Circulations #2 show at the Centre Photographique in Clermont-Ferrand.

But that’s not all! There’s also a prize chosen by the public (you can vote too when you go) – the winner gets a place on next year’s jury, an artist residency at the 104, use of a Canon profession printer and as much ink as they need, an Instax Square SQ10 camera as a gift, and portfolios published in two French photo magazines – Fisheye et Lensculture.

By the way, if you want a souvenir of the festival, the catalogue is handily translated into English and costs just 22€!
