A tradition coming from Alsace…

Alsace Christmas Market at the Maison de l’Alsace in Paris
From 26th November until 30th December 2005, on the first floor (not ground floor) of the Maison de l’Alsace.
Open every day 11am – 9pm, except 24th December (9am – midday). Closed 25th & 26th December.
During the pre-Christmas period:

– patisserie lessons Tuesdays afternoons
– “Bredle”-making lessons, run by Suzanne Roth, the best cook in Alsace and multi-winner of the Prosper-Montagné contest. Entrance: 5 euros per person. She has also written a book called “Le Breudlebuech” (Editions du Rhin) which tells you everything you need to know about these traditional little cakes from Alsace
– workshops for children on Wednesday afternoons. How to make Christmas decorations for 6 to 12 year olds. Entrance: 5 euros per person
– Alsace wine workshop “Festive Wines” on Friday afternoons. Wines of Alsace revealed, with explanations about how to marry them with certain foods (with food-tasting!). Entrance: 5 euros per person

Saint-Germain-Des-Près Market

Saint Sulpice Market
From 16th – 19th December, 10am – 10pm, except Thursday 16th (opens at midday). This cheerful village brings together regional job-help centres to show their specialities in both food and decoration. Metro Saint Sulpice

Montparnasse Market
From 3rd – 31st December, 10am – 10pm. You’ll find Father Christmas’ village under the arches of the Maine shopping centre. Metro Montparnasse

The Cour de Rome Market
From 3àth November – 24th December, 7.30am – 8pm during the week, opens 9am Saturdays and 10am Sundays, opposite the Saint Lazare railway station. Metro Saint-Lazare

La Défense Market
From 30th November – 24th December, 11am – 7.30pm during the week, opens 9am Saturdays. At the Grande Arche of La Défense. Metro La Défense
