Matisse exhibition at the Luxembourg Museum (Luxembourg Garden)

For spring, the bold and colorful works of Henri Matisse will be creating the art event of the season at the Musée du Luxembourg.

The exhibition was inspired by the 1,200 letters written by Matisse to his good friend, the writer and portraitist André Rouveyre. Matisse met Rouveyre in the studio of Gustave Moreau and they quickly began a correspondence in which Matisse often discussed how his latest painting was going. He also illustrated his letters with sketches. The current exhibition brings together this magnificent archive of letters with the works of art they describe, shedding new light on Matisse’s personality as well as his process of working. Musée du Luxembourg. March 16 to July 17. Open daily 11am-10:30pm. 19 rue de Vaugirard, 75006. The exhibition is located two minutes from the hotel Jardin Odeon interesting link to buy your entrance ticket online
