Like a miniature version of the illuminated nocturnal walk in the Jardin des Plantes each Xmas, Tom Meskell invites you to discover the courtyard of the Irish Cultural Centre at nightfall and enjoy Silva Lumina, an illuminated installation of human and plant forms, accompanied by a soundtrack composed by Colm Ó Snodaigh and Brian Hogan of the group Kíla.

Explore a sort of glowing forest of sculpture, embodying hope and a sense of community, from 29th January – 14th February. Admission is free, and the experience is available from Wednesday-Sunday from 5-8pm.

And before or after your courtyard walk, check out the exhibition Wilding / État Sauvage by Tom Climent which starts on 1st February (and runs until 13th April).

This free exhibition “almost a call to light” as the artist describes it, feature colourful abstract shapes that have a feeling of growth to them, as if the colour were allowed to grow and expand without any constraints, wildly.

A book of the paintings is being published on 31st January. 120 pages, 128 illustrations, 25€ here on the publisher’s website.

For the free special event on 31st Januar from 5-8pm, Tom Climent will be in conversation with critic Cristín Leach at 6pm, and a food truck will be available for those who are hungry!

The evening celebrates not only the exhibition openings but also Sainte Brigid (1st Feb.), the traditional start of spring according to the Celtic calendar, an uplifting moment when the light begins to return and nature reawakens – exactly what we need right now!
