For the fourth year in a row, the BnF (the National Library, not far from our hotels) has organised an exhibition showing the best photography of the year, i.e. the winners of four of the most important photo prize competitions – the Niépce prize, the Nadar prize, the Bourse du Talent and the Camera Clara prize.

And entrance is free!

Here’s a great opportunity to see the winners of four of France’s biggest photo prizes brought together in one space, for free! The exhibition has a snappy French title – La photographie à tout prix. Une année de prix photographiques à la BnF (which includes a play on words too complicated to explain here) and guarantees you’ll see some absolutely splendid images.

Anne-Lise Broyer is this year’s winner of the Prix Niépce Gens d’Image, which was founded in 1955. You can find her website here and her Instagram page here.

Gens d’Image also organise the Prix Nadar which celebrate a photo book each year. In 2024 the winner was Chambre 207 by Jean-Michel André (152 pages, 39€ here at your local Amazon) .

The ‘Bourse du Talent’ chosen by the Picto Foundation gave out three top prizes this year: Karla Hiraldo Voleau, Hassan Kurbanbaev and Guillaume Holzer. You can see more of their work in the exhibition.

And the Prix Camera Clara, created in 2012, is reserved for film photographers. The latest winner is Laura Pannack for her Youth without age series, a photographic exploration of beings, places and landscapes encountered in Romania.
