The creativity and vision of Richard Peduzzi – painter, set designer and furniture creator – is on show at a new exhibition at the Gobelins Gallery, not far from our hotels.

With the rather plain title Richard Peduzzi. Perspective. Furniture, sets, drawings, the new exhibitions at the Gobelins Gallery (part of the prestigious Mobilier National) takes a look at the many talents of a man who never seems to stop creating.

Pieces of designer furniture, architectural projects, designer objects, set design for theatre and opera… Peduzzi seems to be able to apply his creativity to any medium, sometimes two at the same time, such as his paintings of architecture.

A close collaborator of French film and theatre director Patrice Chéreau since 1968 (including for his film La Reine Margot), Peduzzi started designing furniture when requested to by the Mobilier National in the 1980s.

He’s also lent his talent to a number of museum layouts, and for this new exhibition about his work, predictably the man himself has designed the presentation and curated which pieces are show, a selection of his most important works taken from five decades of work.

Now 81 years old, it seems that Peduzzi will never stop making his ideas reality 🙂

Two new publications are available to accompany the exhibition. One of them, Percussion discussion, is a collection of interviews with the artist conducted by journalist Arnaud Laporte (208 pages, 23€ here at your local Amazon).

The other is the ‘catalogue’ for the exhibition, actually more of a box set that includes a booklet and around fifty postcards of the artist’s most iconic work (116 pages, 22€ here at your local Amazon).
