Ah yeah! One of our favourite events of the year is back – Open House weekend – two very special days during which a lot of buildings usually closed to the public are open and available to tour, often with other special events on offer, and (generally) for free!

Let’s take a look at the highlights near our hotels…

It’s really tough trying to choose what to see during Open House weekend, because of both quality and quantity. In the Paris area there’s a jaw-dropping 3,000 propositions, with nearly 200 exceptionally open this weekend, but we have a few ideas about where you should head to if you’ve never been before!

This isn’t a definitive list of course, but if you don’t know any of the places listed below, you’ll be in for a treat:

— The Pantheon (free entrance)
— The Irish Cultural Centre with concerts and an exhibition
— The Sorbonne
— The Sainte-Geneviève Library, an incredible building…

— The Senate
— The UNESCO building (read our article here)
— The Odeon Theatre
— The Sewers Museum (that we visited for you last year, and was a great surprise!)

— The Cluny Museum
— The Hôtel de Matignon (the Prime Minister’s residence)
— The Curie Museum
— The Army Museum
— La Monnaie de Paris where the nation’s coins are designed and stamped…

All these are on the Left Bank not far from the hotels in our collection, and that’s just a tiny part of what awaits you over the weekend (the quantity of lovely churches to see is inredible).
