Celebrate Bastille Day 2024 at a fireman’s ball near our hotels!

There’s basically only one night per year when you can spend the evening in the company of dozens of firemen, and it’s this weekend!

The night of 13th July, to celebrate the French national holiday, there are firemen’s balls all round the city (quite a few of which are near our hotels) and we have all the details, including a very handy map! 😜

The tradition of firemen’s balls is not as old as we thought – the first one was held in Montmartre in 1937 and every year since then, quickly spreading to most towns in the country.

The balls are generally organised on 13th & 14th July, but this year they are actually on 12th & 13th July. However, in Paris on 12th July there is only one venue inside the city limits (here in the 17th arrondissement), open from 7pm to 4am!

As for all the balls, admission is technically free but you are strongly encouraged to donate a few euros at the entrance. It’s for a good cause (the fire service).

All the biggest parties are being held on 13th July 2024, so here’s the list of all the firemen’s balls happening that day in Paris.

On the Left Bank near our hotels you have four options:

Masséna, in the 13th

Port Royal, also in the 13th

Colombier, in the 6th (which is our favourite, for its large courtyard and great ambience), and

Grenelle, in the 15th

The latter closes at 3am, the rest at 4am.

If you’d like to cross over the Seine to see a fireman or two, there are twice as many events 😥, with a couple of venues actually still very close to our hotels. Here’s the map of all the ball son 13th July 2024 ⤵️ and for more info (in French), click here!
