Ahmet Ertuğ photo exhibition at the Conciergerie until 20th May 2024

Tukish photographer Ahmet Ertuğ presents twenty incredible photos of classic architecture at the Conciergerie – near our hotels – in an exhibition entitled Voyage dans les pierres et la lumière (A Voyage Into Stones and Light).

Born in 1949 in Turkey, photographer Ahmet Ertuğ has travelled all over the world to immortalise spaces with impressive architecture.

To capture their grandeur, he uses large format cameras and film (20cm x 25cm), which helps retain the many small details in these large rooms.

From 50 years of the photographer’s work, this new exhibition selects twenty large format shots of monuments in France and Italy – the capitals respective Pantheons, vast libraries, theatres, castles…

The photos are being shown in a room at the Conciergerie called Les Gens d’Armes, the largest civil gothic room in Europe (1,785m²), creating a link between the space and the prints.

Our advice would be to purchase a combined ticket allowing entry to both the Conciergerie and the Sainte-Chapelle (which just happens to be in one of the photos on show). The two buildings are next door to each other, and entrance will cost 20€ instead of 26€ separately.

And if you’re in town on 18th May 2024 for European Museum Night (la Nuit Européenne des Musées) you’ll be able to enter for free!
