Paris department stores will do more or less anything to get you to shop with them for Xmas, and with big hitters Le Printemps and Les Galeries Lafayette next door to each other on boulevard Haussmann (just behind Opera) the fight is ruthless!

For the interior decoration, Galeries Lafayette may have the advantage, thanks to the huge space they have under the glass dome (at Printemps, this space used to exist but was filled in during the 20th century), and seeing each year’s tree never gets old – the huge tree, the decorations, the light show (every 30 minutes)…

Going to see the tree is free of course, but will you manage to leave the store empty-handed?

Thousands of gift ideas await you, there’s Santa’s photo studio, exclusive collabs, traditional Christmas log cakes…

Our favourite part of the whole experience though is definitely the eye-popping Christmas tree – decorated, illuminated and several storeys high, it’s not to be missed!
