A nocturnal walk with giant Chinese lanterns – Jungle en voie d’illumination at the Jardin des Plantes until 21st January 2024

The giant Chinese lanterns in the form of animals (and plants) are back for the holidays in the Jardin des Plantes, near our hotels, for a fifth season.

After showcasing animals nearing extinction, the oceans, the evolution of life and microscopic creatures, this year’s theme is the jungle – Jungle en voie d’illumination – with huge, colourful, animated creations that will amaze you!

As the sun goes down in the winter sky, the Jardin des Plantes transforms into a sparkling, extraordinary jungle!

Jungle en voie d’illumination offers you a walk around the dark gardens, with lighting provided by huge Chinese lanterns in the form of flora and fauna of jungles on four continents.

It’s an event that all the family can enjoy, part fun but also part instructive about the fragile ecosystem and why it needs to be preserved.

A page on the website of the Natural History Museum (in French, alas) gives more informations about the role jungles play in the world climate, presents several species you’ll find in jungles, and explains why they are under threat. Every frog, elephant and monkey needs our support!

Oh and one more thing – make sure you tag your photos with #JungleIlluminée!
