Titanic exhibition at Paris Expo until 10th September 2023

With 2.000m² showcasing over 260 authentic objects, reconstructions of cabins and extensive details about the lives of those on board, this new exhibition about the Titanic tells the true story of the famous, deadly voyage of 14th April 1912.

Over a century after the event, the incredible story of the Titanic still fascinates, as this new exhibition near our hotels proves.

Over 1,500 people died when the liner hit an iceberg and sank, despite supposedly being the height of marine technology and unsinkable.

While many people will be familiar with the story after seeing James Cameron’s fictionalised film, the exhibition concentrates on the real lives of those who died that night, from captain Edward J. Smith who was going to retire after the voyage, to Madeleine Astor, the wife of a billionaire, who was five months pregnant and boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg with her husband, their valet, another employee and a nurse.

Many other passengers however came from much more modest backgrounds (tickets were available for not only second but also third class). Almost all met the same grizzly end.

Their stories are told so as to give a sadly human face to this terrible tragedy.

The free audioguide that accompanies your visit gives information in addition to the written texts, and there are over 250 objects brought up from the seabed to scrutinise. The exhibition also details the numerous missions led to retrieve these items.

Sleeping quarters have been reproduced to show what life was like aboard the ship, and for the first time in France the main staircase has be reconstructed, giving visitors a real sense of being on board the Titanic.

And the visit ends with an immersive experience and big screen showing you more of the ship.
