Anne-Charlotte is a trainee and student at the reception desk of the Hotel les Dames du Panthéon. She explains how and why she came to work at the hotel for a year, and what’s next for her in September.

After graduating in June 2022 with a degree in marketing techniques, it seemed natural for me to continue with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality.

Ever since I was young, I’ve wanted to work in this sector, because I’m naturally happy to help people, and smiley. 🙂

An apprenticeship seemed to be a really good option for me. It allowed me to learn the theory while also putting it into practice in a business environment.

It became clear that I had made the right choice during the end of studies training for my degree. I worked as a receptionist at a hotel in the 15th arrondissement. At the end of those two months, I continued in the same group, filling in at various hotels as needed.

And so the natural next step seems to be a professional degree in the hotel trade.
I can now say that working in the group has taught me numerous skills. I’ve learnt a huge amount about things as diverse as management, accounting, contact with guests, and written and spoken English.

I’ve also been able share this experience with some great colleagues who helped me feel at home in their teams. They have also taught me a lot, especially about working as a team.

While this job has made it clear my choice of profession is the right one for me, in September 2023, I intend to look for new experiences. Currently, the idea is to move abroad for a few months before returning to France to complete a Masters, which will allow me access to much more strategic positions.

One day I may return to the HPRG group, but for the moment I’m only 20 years old, – I have to live a little, learn, and discover the world around me. This is also why I love this profession: the exchange of cultures through talking to guests, and sharing my French culture.
