Galeries Lafayette has a jaw-dropping dome in its main building, and Xmas is when they fill it with a giant, jaw-dropping tree…

This year, Galeries Lafayette Haussmann has been turned into Planet Xmas Tree (Planète Sapin), with a special storybook written by Claire Castillon and illustrated by Florent Chavouet available for around 15€ here at your local Amazon.

The giant Christmas tree is several stories high, and always impressive, although this year it does seem a little less exuberant than previous years.

It’s best to go up a few floors to get the best view of the tree, and be sure to hang around for the sound and light show that kicks in every 30 minutes!

The store also offers an ‘immersive experience’ called Expédition Planète Sapin which is free, but best booked in advance online here. Other events, concept stores, gift ideas and more are on offer, as well as an online advent calendar you can try your luck at.
