The Netflix series Emily in Paris is a big, big success for the company. With two seasons already available to watch, it has been renewed for a third season (filming in Paris this summer) and even a fourth!

In the first of a series of articles (one for each season) we thought we’d show you where the show was filmed, with details for each episode, links to find each place easily (many of them are close to our hotels), and a handy map at the end.

So let’s go find Emily’s Paris!

Almost everyone has seen or heard of the Netflix series Emily in Paris, starring Lily Collins (daughter of Phil! – we didn’t know) in the role of Emily. Arriving from Chicago to work at a marketing agency in Paris, her love life quickly becomes as complicated as her wardrobe is extensive.

While certain scenes take place at landmarks that we all know, you have to have in-depth knowledge of Paris to recognise all the series’ locations.

Luckily for you, we do have in-depth knowledge of Paris! So here’s the list of where the first season of Emily in Paris was filmed, episode by episode (with another article to come for season 2!)

First of all, you should know that Emily’s apartment, the square with the fountain, the boulangerie and Gabriel’s restaurant all actually exist, just behind the Hotel les Dames du Panthéon and Hotel des Grands Hommes, on place de l’Estrapade. In episode 1, Emily arrives and gets some breakfast pastries for the first time. Later we see her walking on the place du Panthéon and on her phone in front of the Hotel les Dames du Panthéon and Hotel des Grands Hommes.

Later in the same episode, Emily goes to the Palais-Royal gardens where she makes her first Parisian (but American) friend, Mindy Chen (played by Ashley Park).

A number of later scenes also take place here, either in the gardens by the fountain, in the courtyard with the Daniel Buren columns, in nearby restaurants (including a long scene at the Grand Véfour) and neighbouring streets.

The agency where Emily works is also just nearby on place de Valois.

In the same episode, we see Emily sitting on the terrace of a café called le Flore en l’Île, which is on the Île Saint-Louis just behind Notre-Dame.

In episode 2, Emily goes jogging in the Jardin du Luxembourg (well worth trying – it’s gorgeous in the morning, and very close to Hotel Baume), and crosses the place du Panthéon again.

For episode 3, Emily is all around town! We see her jogging across the Pont des Arts (also the location for the last scene in And Just Like That…), on place des Victoires, on the Alexandre III bridge for the shoot of a commercial (and just below at the terrace of a restaurant), then attending a party in an apartment overlooking the bassin de l’Arsenal in Bastille and on the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin in the same spot, where the canal changes name and becomes the Seine.

There are no new locations in episode 4, but épisode 5 starts off once again on place du Panthéon, just in front of the Hotel les Dames du Panthéon and Hotel des Grands Hommes.

Emily gets slightly hijacked to go and see the Atelier des Lumières (across town), then attends an influencer event on place Véndôme, eats at La Maison Rose in Montmartre then creates a happening on nearby place Dalida with a Hästens mattress!

It’s also in this episode that Emily thinks she’ll have to close her Instagram account, and goes on a tour of Paris by Night with Mindy. This takes them to Palais Royal, Sacré Cœur, the Moulin Rouge and the Eiffel Tower, before returning to Montmartre (apparently all on foot!)

Episode 6 sees our heroine about town once more, on place Saint-Georges, strolling down the Canal Saint-Martin and hanging out at the famous Café de Flore, which is just minutes away from the Hotel Saint-André des Arts.

Then Emily – looking very Audrey Hepburn – is lucky enough to be able to attend an evening event at the Opera Garnier, which is as stunning as ever.

IN episode 7, Emily is whisked off on a scooter ride that sees her whizz by place de la République, before spending the evening at the Musée des Arts Forains in Bercy, an incredible place that is not often open to the public (try and see it if you can – check here for opening dates).

There are no new locations in episode 8 of the first season, but episode 9 makes up for it with scenes filmed at the Monnaie de Paris, place Furstenberg and rue Cardinale (both during the day and at night). These are all on the Left Bank close to our hotels!

And for the last episode of season 1 of Emily in Paris, with her love life much more complicated that at the beginning of the storyline, we see the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor bridge close to the Musée d’Orsay (covered in those “love locks” 🤢), and Emily goes for a speedboat ride down the Seine, passing by the Musée d’Orsay once again!
