Henri Cartier-Bresson – Paris Revisited exhibition at the Carnavalet Museum, 15th June – 31st October 2021

The Carnavalet Museum, which just reopened last week (read our article here) is presenting its first temporary exhibition – Henri Cartier-Bresson – Paris Revisited, with original prints (including around thirty never seen before) and even audiovisual recordings of the artist.

There is probably not better place in the world to host this exhibition of photos of Paris taken by Henri Cartier-Bresson. The photographer explored every single corner of Paris, showing the unstoppable evolution of the capital throughout the 20th century, and many of his shots have now become iconic.

The photos on show – original prints from the era – were chosen after years of research to find them, aided by the Cartier-Bresson Foundation which is now not far from the Carnavalet Museum (and who are also hosting a photo exhibition about Paris at the moment, with gorgeous shots by Atget).

Guided visits of the exhibition are available (in French) and fans may like to purchase the official catalogue (available in English!), with 200 images and essays by the curators. To find out where it’s cheapest to order from, click here.

This is a charming exhibition in a beautifully restored venue – recommended!
