See 19th century Paris in 3D

You miss Paris with a passion, and can’t wait to return (taking advantage of the great offer on our website), but in the meantime, we have a way for you to see the city in a new light, thanks to the web.

The Paris Musées website is slowly but surely putting online all the photos in the collections of the Paris city council’s museums, and everything is completely free of copyright!

Launched a year ago with free access to 150,000 photos, the site has recently added another 100,000… in 3D!

Get ready to go cross-eyed!

In total, the Paris Musées Collections website has over 336,000 images (of which 67,000 are photos), but we went searching specifically for 3D images so you can see the city from the comfort of your armchair. These images of the city in (mostly) the late 1800s are a real treat!

To see the images, relax your focus et let one image slide over the other. When they meet, you should be able to see the image in 3D.

Over the course of our search, we found 3D photos of The Cluny Museum

You can even download the images you like – over 2.5 million have been downloaded by visitors since the site opened 😳🙂
