Paris’ department stores are ready for Christmas, and Printemps would like you to come with your kids – they have workshops on Wednesday and Saturdays and – of course – animated window displays sponsored this year by a fairly random selection of brands including Jimmy Choo, Bonpoint and David Yurman.

We went down to take a look…

With Galeries Lafayette just next door, it’s easy to look at the window displays at Printemps and decide which of the sont big stores has made the best effort.

While GL went for understatement and an eco-friendly theme this year, Printemps seems to be hammering away with brand names, colour and noise. Your kids will love it, no doubt, but anyone over the age of 12 will quickly find it tiresome.

You may still like to take advantage of their workshops for kids, and check out their special days, like Delicious Day on 10th December and Funny Day on 17th December, whatever they are (details are thin -‘lots of surprises and gifts’, the website says).

Printemps Haussmann (here) is open Monday-Saturday from 9.35am – 8pm (8.45pm Thursdays). Open Sunday 11th and 18th Decembre from 11am-7pm
