The Xmas 2015 ice rinks in Paris

There’s no big ice rink in front of Hôtel de Ville this year (for the first time in a long time), which is a shame because it was free! So where can you get your skates on this year in Paris?

We’ve managed to track down the four special Xmas 2015 ice rinks, and have all the info on two others that are open in the city all year round.

It used to be simple to find an outdoor ice rink in Paris for Xmas – there was one in the 13th arrondissement, one in front on Montparnasse and a huge one outside Hôtel de Ville. However, as the years have gone by, the ice rinks have disappeared. For the last couple of years, only Hôtel de Ville was still available, and this year even that’s gone (not sure if it will be back) and there’s not a lot of information on the web about alternatives. Luckily, we’ve done some research and found all the solutions you need!

Let’s start with the ice rink on the 1st floor of the Eiffel Tower. It’s free (once you have your ticket to go up the tower) and situated 57 metres off the ground! All the info is in our article here.

You could also go to the Jardin d’Acclimation which has set up a 400m² ice rink as part of their Féerie de Noël event. To find out how to get there or check out their opening hours, read our article here.

Other options for are the Xmas village at Trocadéro which has its own rink, and the Xmas market on the Champs Elysées (4,000m²!). All the info is in our article about the Paris 2015 Xmas markets here.

And don’t forget that the city itself runs a couple of ice rinks that are open all year round, like the one at Pailleron in the northeast of the city (800m²) and the recently renovated rink at Bercy.

Whatever you decide, don’t forget your gloves – they are mandatory at all venues!
