Jeanne Lanvin exhibition at the Palais Galliera
from 8th March – 23rd August 2015

Founded over 125 years ago, Lanvin is the oldest French fashion house still in existence (even if it does now belong to a Chinese businesswoman).

This new exhibition looks back over the career and legacy of Jeanne Lanvin, who started working in 1885 and opened her first boutique at the age of 22!

Here’s all the info.

Looking back at Mademoiselle Jeanne’s life shows just what a prodigious creator and businesswoman she was – stylist in 1885, first boutique four years later, followed by a move to the very fashionable rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in 1893 (age 26)…

A few years later, the birth of her daughter Marguerite inspired her to create a line fo clothes for children, followed in the 1920s by departments for underwear, wedding dresses, fur, sport, menswear, perfume and even home decoration.
Exposition Jeanne Lanvin au Palais Galliera du 8 mars au 23 août 2015Jeanne Lanvin was always inspired by her surroundings, voyages abroad and classic art, mixing modern fashion with unusual influences like 18th century dresses and art deco (which also inspired the Hôtel Baume, our new four-star hotel).

The exhibition shows how this talented woman used her son savoir-faire to create a brand that he lasted longer than any of the French equivalents.
Exposition Jeanne Lanvin au Palais Galliera du 8 mars au 23 août 2015The exhibition is conceived with the help of the Maison Lanvin’s creative director, guided visits can be booked, and an official catalogue is being published (45€ here at amazon.fr) to complete your knowledge of this extraordinary woman.
