Free public transport on New Year’s Eve 2104 in Paris

Once again, the la RATP (which runs our transport system) is making all Parisian public free from 5pm on 31st December until midday the next day, albeit with a reduced service (sic lines of metro, and not all stations open, for example).

Here’s all the info to help get you home after your New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Forget trying to find a taxi (really frustrating) or driving under the influence (really dangerous) on the evening of 31st December – Paris has you covered!

The whole system is free from 5pm onwards on the 31st, normal service continues until around 2am, then from then until around 5.30am a reduced special service (still free) will be running regularly, including six metro lines from certain stations and nightbuses from the main railway stations (they usually all leave from Châtelet).
