Exhibition The life of the lanternist by Daphne Rocou
at la Belle Juliette until 30th September 2014

The winner of the 2013 PHPA prize was given the chance to expose her work at la Belle Juliette, so Daphne decided to create a new series, and even a complete story to go with it – the life of the lanternist.

As the story goes, Daphne was given an old abandoned suitcase, filled with photos, a passport, some drawings, a notebook and all the backdrops need for a shadow puppet show. Now she’s showing the contents to all of us…

P.S. You’re invited to the opening party!

Here’s all the info.
Exposition La Vie du Lanterniste de Daphne Rocou à la Belle Juliette jusqu'au 30 septembre 2014Daphne Rocou is a Greek photographer based in Athens, and her new series – being shown here for the first time – tells the story of a travelling lanternist, a tale that mixes eras, countries and symbols, a world apart where dream and fiction coexist.
Exposition La Vie du Lanterniste de Daphne Rocou à la Belle Juliette jusqu'au 30 septembre 2014The photos from the series are being shown at la Belle Juliette (here) every day from 11am – 8pm. Entrance is free of course, and we’d be really happy to see you at the opening party for drinks and nibbles – it’s on Wednesday 25th June 2014, and the fun starts at 6pm!

French-speakers can get a better idea of the whole story by reading the special booklet we’ve produced to accompany the exhibition. Click here to see it fullscreen. And even if you don’t speak French, you’ll be able to see the delicate handiwork and dedication that have gone into the project.
