It’s not really surprising that in a city filled with amazing museums there are a certain number of rather excellent exhibitions. Here are the ones that have caught our eye for 2013 in Paris.

At the Louvre, you’ll be able to see Mexico: masterpieces of New Spain of the 7th & 8th centuries, from 7 March – 7 June, then From Germany: from Friedrich to Beckmann, 1800-1939 from 28th March – 24th June

A the Grand Palais, there’s always a lot going on. Bright ! Dynamic ! Space and vision in art, from the present day to 1912 arrives on 10th April and finishes on 22nd July. But is the Jean Prouvé exhibition still on the cards? Certain sites mention it, but it was planned for the spring, making the lack of information currently available rather odd. In any case, after some mumblings of it being cancelled, Monumenta by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov will still be happening in May, and later in the year you’ll be seeing Georges Braque (18th September 2013 – 13th January 2014), Felix Vallotton (2nd October 2013 – 20th January 2014), photos from Raymond Depardon (13th November 2013 – 15th February 2014) and a Cartier exhibition starting 3rd December

At the Petit Palais you’ll be able to see Félix Ziem from 14th February – 4th August and The Slovenian Impressionists (1890-1920) from 18th April – 13th July

The Pompidou Centre has famous names like Roy Lichtenstein from 3rd July – 4th November, but their site doesn’t mention the Cindy Sherman exhibition that’s supposed to be happening before the end of the year. Hmm…

At the Musée du Luxembourg, following the Chagall exhibition we’ve already written about, you’ll be able to see Dreaming in the Renaissance from 7th Octobre 2013 – 26th January 2014

You’ll be dancing and singing at the Cinémathèque Française with their Jacques Demy exhibition from 10th April – 4th August

At the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, there’s a massive Keith Haring retrospective starting 19th April and running until 18th August, with Le 104 showing some of his large format works over the same dates.TheParis Town Hall holds some very decent (and free) exhibitions). The new one is called Haute Couture and rund from 2nd March – 6th July

There’s no info on the Musée Carnavalet site, but after contacting them via Twitter, they tell us that an exhibition called Alice Alleaume : Le roman d’une garde-robe is in preparation (with the help of the Galliera fashion museum) from 16th October 2013 – 16th March 2014

Above all, try and be in town on Saturday 18th May for Museum Night, which is always interesting! And for the moment, there’s still no fixed date for the reopening of the musée Picasso – for the moment the site just says it’s going to happen this summer. However, for the musée de l’Hommethe Fondation Louis Vuitton, the Paris Philharmonic and Jeff Koons at the Pompidou Centre, you’ll have ot be patient until 2014!
