Tarzan! exhibition at the Quai Branly museum
from 16th June – 27th September 2009

He’s the king of the jungle! Discover who Tarzan was created by Edgar Rice Burroughs and explore the myth through this new exhibition…

Books, comics, films… Tarzan has been inspiring people’s imagination since the early 20th Century.

The exhibition looks at origins and nature of Tarzan, both the character and the myth (from Saturnin Farandoul, a 1914 documentary, to Greystoke in 1983), and redefines the character as a modern hero fighting for the protection of nature.

Another part of the exhibition called “our Tarzan years”, visitors are invited to express themselves in front of a camera (a recording studio had been installed in the museum gardens) about what Tarzan means to them: childhood hero, famous scenes from TV or cinema, the famous Tarzan jungle call…

Also happening around the exhibition:

– special children’s course round the exhibition

– guided visits with a very special guide (dates and time here)

– a 180-page catalogue (19.50€)

– four screenings of Tarzan films

– and in the gardens: a sound installation, explanations about protecting Tarzan’s favourite animals, workshops, readings…

Regarde ! La Tour Eiffel !
