That’s Great! Photos of Warhol by Ron Galella at Le Bon Marché

Ron Galella’s photos of seventies/eighties New York bring you right back to the time when disco was king and the city was blazing. They also prove that Warhol even smiled sometimes…

So what if you weren’t there to see Bianca Jagger ride into Studio 54 on a white horse? Who cares if you were never best friends with ‘Andy’? Ron Galella‘s photos will give you the impression you were. His books of black and white photographs document an era of hedonism and stars, the heyday of creative, excessive New York.

To celebrate the release of Mr. Galella’s new book, called “That’s Great!” (almost certainly taken from something Warhol said a lot), department store Le Bon Marché is holding an exhibition of 160 photos that Galella took between the end of the sixties to 1989 when Warhol died. Now 80 years old, the photographer will even be in Paris to sign copies. Not many people got the inside look at New York nightlife that he did, and getting his signature is a must for Andy fans…
