A phantom metro station and erotica

Intrigued ?…

You have until March 2008 to go and see the Enfer exhibition of forbidden, saucy images at the Bibliothèque Nationale. We told you all about it here, remember? However, there’s also a very unusual advertisement for the exhibition in place until mid-January 2008 in the metro that perhaps you should see.

Paris’ metro system has quite a few stations that are now closed or were never used. One of them is called Croix-Rouge, on line 10 between Mabillon and Sèvres Babylone, and it’s been closed since 1939. On one platform is the logo of the exhibition (a large X) and some black curtains that are lifted by the air currents created by the passing of the metro train. Behind these curtains are slightly blurry examples of what can be seen at the actual exhibition.

It’s a crazy idea, and of course we couldn’t resist trying it out for you. Have a look at the film below to get an idea of what you’ll be seeing. I think you’d have trouble making out any images at all, but perhaps if you’re not filming (like I was) you could get a better look. In any case, you should hurry down there; this strange ‘happening’ is due to finish on 15th January 2008…
