The Winekeeper's Favourite
:: Collaboration between L’Ecluse-wine bars and Hotels Paris Rive Gauche
Cindy Pruvot, Winekeeper at l'Ecluse speaks about the wine she likes...
I'd like to introduce you to one of my favourite wines, which you will also find in our wine bars "L'Ecluse".
This wine is a pure pleasure, a Château La Garde 1999, from Pessac Léognan. This château's reputation is on the rise, and the idea is to make their wine one of the best Pessac Léognans around.
The château was founded in 1739, and the wine storehouses were built in 1882. Bought by the Dourthe winemakers in 1990, it is worth a visit. With a selection of the best grapes, and an extreme care and attention given to the process of winemaking, the Château La Garde profits from its high-quality source product and a thousand-barrel underground storehouse.
Now down to the serious business of tasting.
A shiny ruby-coloured robe, a nose which mixes both fruit and – delicately - wood. This wine has body and is well-balanced, round and supple, letting the elegance and finesse of the earth express themselves. The taste suggests that keeping it a few years can only accentuate these qualities…
The Château La Garde 1999 is pefect for accompanying rabbit, a plate of cold meats, a bird lover paté…
