Traverser exhibition by Raymond Depardon
at the Cartier-Bresson Foundation
13th September – 17th December 2017

Perhaps France’s most important living photographer, Raymond Depardon (75 years old) has new exhibition – Traverser – at the Cartier-Bresson Foundation, very close to our hotels.

Here’s all the info.

Documenting France (and a lot of the rest of the world) has been Raymond Depardon’s passion for over 60 years. In photos and films, he shows us the everyday and the extraordinary, sometime apart, often together.

His new exhibition Traverser has four themes, with links between each pair:

La terre natale (homeland), with
Le voyage (journey), and
La douleur (pain), with
L’enfermement (confinement)

Through a hundred or so images, texts, films and documents, the exhibition is a journey though Depardon’s work, from his earliest photos to his vision today.

Linked to the exhibition are two talks being held at the Foundation. One is a conversation between Depardon and Agnès Sire, the head of the Foundation, being held on 5th October 2017 from 6.30-8pm. Another puts agnès b. face to face with Marin Karmitz. These are free, but booking by e-mail is obligatory for both.

On the last Saturday of each month, a free guided visit is available at 11.30am (booking obligatory by e-mail also).

And the catalogue of the exhibition is available here at amazon.fr (260 pages, 39€), with a larger selection of images and long new discussion between Depardon and Agnès Sire.
