Disquaire Day is the French version of Record Store Day, and Paris has loads of great independent vinyl shops (including several near our hotels) where you’ll be able to get this year’s limited edition specials.

But that’s not all! There are special club nights and concerts, a vinyl village on place de la République, and a one-day Parisian Rough Trade shop!

Every year, Disquaire Day tries to encourage you to stop buying your music on the web and get down to one of your local record stores. Their advice and knowledge are invaluable, and they could do with your support!

If you’re staying in one of our hotels, you’re just a few minutes’ walk from Crocodisc, La Dame Blanche, Paris Jazz Corner and Gibert Joseph. Pop down, say hello from us, and perhaps you’ll even leave with a great piece of limited edition vinyl 🙂

Apart from all the special releases on the 18th April, there’s a lot going on in Paris for this year’s Disquaire Day:

– A vinyl village and two live stages on place de la République
– A conference at the Machine du Moulin Rouge and another at the Maison de la Radio
– Special concerts in 17 Paris venues
– Two vintage buses will be giving free rides betweenRépublique and the Maison de la Radio between 1 and 7pm, with musical accompaniment chosen by the programmers at radio station France Inter

And the famous London indie record store Rough Trade will be setting up shop for just one day at the Point Éphémère with support from Agnès B. Apparently they’ll be bringing even more UK exclusives with them than usual, and there will also be mini-concerts from Arcade Fire’s Will Butler at 1pm (before his concert at the Maroquinerie the same night), Jay-Jay Johanson (3pm) and French DJ Busy P will be begind the counter to get proceedings going at 10am!

It’s Record Store Day in Paris on Saturday 18th April. Yippee!
