Pierre Bonnard. Painting Arcadia exhibition at the Musée d’Orsay from 17th March – 19th July 2015

The Musée d’Orsay manages all of Piere Bonnard’s art, organising exhibitions around the world, but it’s been a while since the artist’s work has been shown in Paris. Finally though they are preparing a comprehensive retrospective of all his different periods, including large-format works, still lifes, portraits, but also more unexpected items such as his sculpture and photography.

Here’s all the info.

Pierre Bonnard was a veritable multi-talented artist. His often striking colour palettes and his ease in a number of different styles made him one the principal actors in the world of modern art.

At the retrospective of his works you’ll see intimate scenes (several nudes), landscapes, small and giant formats, historical scenes, as well as drawings and engravings, plus elements of his work you may be less familiar with, such as his sculptures and photography (Bonnard died in 1947).

To complete your knowledge of his work and life, several workshops and conferences are being organised (even the president of the Musée d’Orsay Guy Cogeval will be speaking at one of them), there are guided visits (including one in sign language and another specially tailored for teenagers) and an official catalogue.
