Bizarre exhibition of the month – The history of spoons
at the Bibliothèque Fourney until 3rd January 2015

You know, I’m ashamed to say I can’t remember the last time I went to see an exhibition about spoons. Luckily, now’s my chance to learn everything about spoons, with this exhibition of around 400 of them. Amazing!

Here are all the details.

According to the exhibition site “Spoons through a unique spotlight on the history of mankind,” and who are we to argue with that?

Whether they are big or small, wooden or metal, from Europe or China, here is a unique chance to see the spoon collection of Jean Metzger. Monsieur Metzger has a personal collection of over 3,000 spoons! That’s approximately 2,788 more than we have!

This summer’s cofunding project to raise money for organising the exhibition raised a staggering 465 euros (the goal was 8,000 euros, and the sum of 32,000€ was even hoped for).

Perhaps in this age of videogames and internet, spoons no longer have the incredible attraction they used to have? And don’t even get me started on the evil effect of the spork
