William Eggleston exhibition at the Fondation
Cartier-Bresson until 21st December 2014

The American master of photography is honoured at the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson with an exhibition entitled “From Black and White to Color”, showing how Eggleston documented his changing country at the end of the 1950s and embraced the new techniques of colour photography, taking shots of shopping centres (something new back then), landscapes, cars and people. Fascinating…

Here’s all the info.

Not far from our hotels (and literally just a few minutes from la Belle Juliette) is quite logical that the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson should host the William Eggleston exhibition – the latter was very much influence by the work of the former in the 1950s.

Eggleston’s photos have revolutionised how we see the USA, with their odd framing, strong colours and occasionally odd subjects (ceilings, food…).

“From Black and White to Color” shows how the photographer’s creativ eprocess evolved, and even includes some photos that have never been seen before, which is surprising as there are a huge number of books dedicated to his work.

And here comes another! The official catalogue of the exhibition has just been published. 200 pages, 38€, here at amazon.fr.
