Marie Laurencin was already very successful before her death in 1956, but her reputation has only grown since.

At the beginning of the 20th century, she was soon the portraitist of Golden Twenties, becoming friends with Georges Braque, Coco Chanel and Jean Cocteau, spending time with Picasso and hanging out with Matisse. One of her first commissions was for Gertrude Stein. A veritable celebrity painter! With 92 works on show, most lent by the Laurencin Museum in Tokyo, the exhibition will show you the painter’s very particular style, sometimes borderline cubist, as well as her other talents, sich as stage and costume designer for ballet..

To complete you experience, a bilingual catalogue has been published (120 illustrations, 178 pages, 29 euros here at amazon.fr), and kids’ workshops are being organised for the school holidays.
